Women's Tennis

The Women's Tennis team was first established in the Spring of 2009 with the hiring of 1st year Head Coach, Richard Bowie. The team will begin its first season of intercollegiate competition in the fall of 2009. Being one of the few Division I Junior College women's tennis programs in the region, the team looks to be very successful in only its first season of existence. In addition to winning matches and carrying a team GPA well over 3.0, the program's goals are to graduate student-athletes who will be assets to their future 4-year colleges and universities.

Coach Bowie was hired in the Spring of 2009 to become ASA’s first ever Head Women’s Tennis coach.  Bowie brings an extensive history in the game of tennis for someone his age.  Born in Jamaica, Coach Bowie played his high school tennis locally in New York City where he was a prep standout.  He then went on to play tennis in college at NCAA Division I Temple University.
Coach Bowie has over 9 years of coaching experience and currently works with several top juniors here in NY.  Bowie's knowledge of the sport of tennis will help nurture a very young program and aid with the development of ASA players. His goal is to create a strong line up and move his players through the ranks and further ASA players on to 4 year colleges and universities.
